1.1 How do I Install it?

1.2 How do I Configure the app?

After downloading the app:

  • Tap the Open tab.
  • Read the Term and Conditions and Privacy policy carefully then Tap on Agree and Continue.
  • Select your country.
  • Enter your phone number. You will receive an OTP on your phone.
  • Enter the OTP sent to your phone
  • Allow the contacts & phone call permissions
  • Setup your profile with profile picture and profile name to start using it.
1.3 How do I update Comera?

Comera is automatically updated.

To update manually:

1.4 How do I verify my number?

Comera verifies your number through OTP (One-time Password) at the time of registering for the app or when you change the number.

1.5 How do I request a new OTP?

In case you entered the wrong number:

  • Edit the number and Tap on ‘Next’ to receive a new OTP. You shall now receive an SMS for authentication.

In case you made a delay in entering the OTP, or the OTP didn’t deliver at all:

  • Tap on ‘Resend’ to receive a new OTP. You will now receive an SMS for authentication.
1.6 How do I set My User Profile?
  • Go to settings.
  • Tap on the User Profile icon.
  • Select Account Profile.
  • Add Name and About.
  • Tap OK and Save.
1.7 How do I Add a Display Picture?
  • Go to settings.
  • Tap on the User Profile icon.
  • Select User Profile.
  • Tap on the ‘Edit’ option.
  • Tap on the image icon.
  • Choose an image-sourcing option from:

    1. ‘Using the Camera,’ or

    2. ‘The Gallery’, and Select a Photo, and Save to Display.

2.1 How do I sync my contacts?

Comera syncs the contacts from your phonebook automatically.

2.2 How do I add a contact?
  • Go to the phonebook of your device.
  • Add the contact there.
  • The new contact will directly sync in with your app’s contact list.
2.3 How do I edit/ update my contacts?
  • Go to the phonebook of your device
  • Select the contact you desire to update
  • Edit it and Save
  • The change will automatically sync in with your app’s contact list
2.4 Can I delete a contact from Comera

You cannot delete a contact directly from Comera. If you desire to delete a contact, go to your phonebook and delete the added contact from there. Your action in the phonebook will delete the same contact from Comera’s contact list as well.

2.5 How do I block a contact?

There are two options for the user to block a contact:

Blocking a Contact from Privacy Settings
  • Go to App Settings
  • Select ‘Privacy’
  • Tap on ‘Blocked Contacts’
  • Tap on the option to add a new contact in the block list on the top right part of the screen
  • Select the contact you want to block
Blocking a Contact from Chats
  • Go to chat.
  • Select the contact.
  • Go to settings.
  • Choose the ‘View Contact’ option.
  • Tap on the block option.
2.6 How do I invite a friend?
  • Go to the app contact screen.
  • You will see an ‘invite’ option with contacts who are not yet on Comera
  • Select a contact to send an invitation.
  • Tap to Invite.
  • Select the medium you want to invite through (Facebook, Messages, Email, etc.)
  • Send the Invitation

OR

  • Go to settings.
  • Tap on ‘Invite a Friend’.
  • Select the medium you want to invite through (Facebook, Messages, Email, etc.)
  • Send the invitation
2.7 How do I share contacts?
  • Go to chat of recipient contact.
  • Tap on the attachment icon in the chatbox.
  • Select the contact option.
  • Choose the contact to be shared from the app’s contact list.
  • Tap to send.
2.8 How do I report a contact ?

    To report a contact:

  • Go to the user's profile
  • Go to more options by tapping the menu icon
  • Tap Report Contact
  • Remember, you can report a maximum of 5 contacts in a day.

3.1 How can I make an audio call?

A user can place the audio call to contact when they are on the contacts screen, chat screen or the call logs screen.

Audio Call from the Contact Screen:
  • Open the App’s contact screen.
  • Select a contact from the contact list you wish to call
  • Tap on the handset icon to place the audio call
Audio Call from the Chat Screen:
  • Go to ‘Contacts’
  • Tap on the contact you wish to call
  • A chatbox will open with the contact
  • Tap on the handset icon to place the audio call
Audio Call from the Call Log Screen:
  • Go to the App’s Call Log screen.
  • Tap on the contact you want to place the call to*

*The desired contact will only appear on this screen if you called them recently 3.2 How can I make a video call?

A user can place the video call to contact when they are on the contacts screen, chat screen or the call logs screen.

Video Call from the Contact Screen:
  • Open the App’s contact screen.
  • Select a contact from the contact list you wish to call
  • Tap on the video call icon (Camcorder) to place the video call
Video Call from the Chat Screen:
  • Go to ‘Contacts’
  • Tap on the contact you wish to call
  • A chatbox will open with the contact
  • Tap on the video call icon (Camcorder) to place the video call
Video Call from the Call Log Screen:
  • Go to the App’s Call Log screen.
  • Tap on the contact you want to place the call to*
  • Tap on the video call icon (Camcorder) to place the video call
*The desired contact will only appear on this screen if you called them recently 3.3 How do I put a call on hold?

You can put a call on hold only when there is an incoming GSM call or a call from another VoIP app. When there is one such incoming call, you will have the following options to choose from:

  • Hold and Accept: To put Comera call on hold and accept the incoming GSM/VoIP call (Call will automatically unhold once the GSM or VoIP app call ends)
  • End and Accept: To End Comera call and accept the incoming GSM/VoIP call
  • Decline: To reject the incoming GSM/VoIP call and continue with the on-going Comera call
3.4 How do I check my call history?
  • Go to the ‘Call’ screen on the app.
  • Your entire call history will be visible.
  • You can tap on a particular contact to view the call details like time, date, and connectivity status (missed, incoming, outgoing).
3.5 How do I delete a calling thread?
  • Tap on calls.
  • Select call thread.
  • Press and hold.
  • Choose the delete option from the pop-up.

OR

  • Swipe left on a call log.
  • Tap on the delete option.
3.6 In which countries is the call feature unavailable?

You can call anywhere in the world you want where people can download Comera to receive your calls on it.

3.7 Does Comera have conference call feature?

Currently, the conference call feature does not exist on Comera. The feature, however, will soon be available for which you will receive a due notification, and which you will be able to access after updating your app.

4.1 How do I initiate a one-to-one chat?
  • Go to Chats.
  • Tap on compose.
  • Select a contact from the contact list or phonebook.
  • A new chatbox will appear.
  • Type the message.
  • Hit ‘Send’ to send the message.
4.2 How do I send a text message?
  • Open a chat
  • Type your message in the chatbox at the bottom of the thread
  • Tap on ‘Send’ button to send the message
4.3 How do I send photos through camera?
  • Open the chat window where you want to send the photo
  • Tap on the attachment icon
  • Tap on the Camera icon
  • Tap once on the shutter to capture the picture
  • Tap the ‘send’ button.
4.4 How do I send photos through Gallery?
  • Open a chat
  • Tap on the attachment icon in the message box
  • Select ‘Gallery’
  • Choose the picture(s) you desire to send
  • Selected photo(s) will open in ‘Message Preview’ window
  • Press the ‘Send’ button to send the picture(s)
4.5 How do I add a caption to a picture I am sending?
  • Select the picture you wish to send from your phone gallery or captured from Camera on Comera
  • The media preview screen will open
  • Add the caption by typing it in the given caption text area on the media preview screen
  • Send the captioned picture
4.6 How do I send video through Camera?
  • Open the chat window where you want to send the video
  • Tap on the Camera icon
  • Press and hold the shutter button to record the video
  • Tap the ‘send’ button.
4.7 How do I send videos through Gallery?
  • Open a chat thread
  • Tap on the attachment icon in the message box
  • Select ‘Gallery’
  • Choose the video(s) you desire to send
  • Selected video(s) will open in ‘Message Preview’ window
  • Press ‘Send’ to send the picture(s)
4.8 How do I add a caption to a video I am sending?
  • Select the video you wish to send from your phone gallery or recorded directly through Camera on Comera
  • The media preview screen will open
  • Add the caption by typing it in the given caption text area on the media preview screen
  • Send the captioned video
4.9 How do I send an emoji/emoticon in a chat?
  • Open a chat
  • In the text area, tap on the smiley icon on the left
  • Tap on the emoji that you would like to use
  • Tap on the ‘Send’ button
4.10 How do I share location in a chat?
  • Open a chat
  • Tap on the attachment icon
  • Select ‘Location’
  • The map will open up
  • Share your current location (you will have to enable your phone’s location feature to share your most accurate current location)

4.11 How do I send documents in a chat?
  • Open a chat
  • Tap on the attachment icon.
  • Select ‘Document’
  • Your phone’s file browser/file manager will open

  • Tap ‘Send’ to send the document file
4.12 How do I send an audio file in a chat?
  • Open a chat
  • Tap on the attachment icon.
  • Select ‘Audio’

  • Select the audio file you desire to send

4.14 How do I save a new contact shared with me in a Chat to my Phonebook?
  • Open the chat containing the shared contact
  • Tap on ‘Add Contact’
  • Tap on ‘New’
  • Your phonebook will open up
  • Edit the particulars if you desire
  • Tap on ‘Save’
4.15 How do I send an audio message?
  • Open a Chat.
  • Press and hold the Audio mic Icon.
  • Record message.
  • Release the icon to send.
4.16 How do I cancel an audio message?
  • When you hold the Audio mic Icon, a cancel option also appears towards the left.
  • Swipe towards it to cancel the audio recording.
4.17 How do I copy a message?
  • Select the message by pressing and holding it for a few seconds.
  • Tap on the Copy icon on the pop-up to copy.
  • Paste it in the text area of the chat details screen.
  • OR

  • Tap on the ‘Clipboard’ option from the pop-up.
  • Paste it in the text area of the chat details screen.
4.18 How do I reply to any message?
  • Select the message by pressing and holding it for a few seconds.
  • The Reply option will appear, tap it
  • The reply window will appear
  • Send reply message by text/photo/video/document/location/audio
  • OR

  • Swipe left on any message (Text, Location, Photo, Video or Audio)
  • A reply window will appear.
  • Send reply message by text/photo/video/document/location/audio
4.19 How do I forward messages?
  • Select the message by pressing and holding it.
  • Tap the forward icon on the pop-up.
  • Select a contact from the contact list or ‘Chats’ window.
  • Tap to send.
4.20 How do I share my message to an external app

You can share all messages, including media and text messages that you sent or received in a chat thread to an external app. Follow the steps below:

  • Press the message
  • Tap on the sharing icon (three traced dots)
  • Choose the external app where you desire to share the message
4.21 How do I check my Message History by Date/ Day?

In a chat thread, you can see your message history by scrolling the messages up and down. All the messages sent and received by the group participants are in the divisions according to their delivery dates /days.

4.22 How do I delete a message?
  • Select the message by pressing and holding it for a few seconds.
  • Tap on the delete icon on the pop-up.
  • You can choose from the following two options to delete a message:
    • Delete for Me: To delete the message for yourself only, or
    • Delete for Everyone: To delete the message for yourself as well as the receiver
4.23 How do I clear chats?
  • Open the chat you wish to clear
  • Go to settings.
  • Select more.
  • Tap on ‘Clear Chat’ option.

  • Open app’s chat screen
  • Swipe right on the chat you desire to clear.
  • Tap on ‘Clear Chat’ option
Note that after clearing a chat thread, the thread will lose all the messages and multimedia shared in it over time. 4.24 How do I delete a chat thread?

  • Swipe right over the chat you desire to delete

4.25 How to check the preview of the media you have sent and received in a chat?
  • Open a chat
  • Tap on the contact’s name (Chat Info)
  • Check the ‘Media, Links, and Docs’ section. All the media files you have sent and received will be there.
Please note that any media files that you had deleted earlier from the chat thread will not be visible in the preview. 4.26 What is my message info and how do I check it?

Your message info shows the delivery status of a particular message in a chat thread along with time. To check the status of a specific message, follow the steps below:

  • Tap on the message.
  • Choose the info icon to view the details.
4.27 How do I check my message status?

You can determine the message status through the status of tick marks or the symbol beside your message and in the ‘Info’ section of the message; details of the different statuses are below:

  • Clock: Shows pending/waiting status and means that the message isn’t sent yet due to poor or no internet connectivity
  • Single Tick: You have sent the message, but the receiver has not yet received it
  • Double Tick: The receiver has received the message
  • Double Ticks in Green: The receiver has seen the message
4.28 Is it free to send messages on Comera?
  • Yes, Comera is a completely free platform where you are not required to pay for messages or any other form of communication.

5.1 How do I create a group?
  • Go to Chats/ Call or Contact.
  • Select Create Group.
  • Select Contacts.
  • Enter the Group Name, Picture and other details.
  • Tap the ‘tick’ symbol to Create Group.
5.2 How do I set an admin for a group?
  • Open group info.
  • Press a group member you wish to make the admin.
  • Select ‘Make Admin’ option to make the selected member an admin of the group
5.3 How do I add a new participant/member to a group?

You can only add a participant in a group if you are its admin. If you are an admin of a group, follow the steps below to add a new participant/member.

  • Go to a Group chat.
  • Select the ‘Add Participant/Member’ option.
  • Choose the contact from the list.
  • Select ‘Add’
5.4 How do I view the group members of a chat group?
  • Go to a chat you want to view the members of
  • Tap on the group name
  • Scroll down to participants
  • All the members of the group will be visible here
5.5 How do I remove a participant /member from a group?

You can only remove a participant from a group if you are its admin. If you are an admin of a group, follow the steps below to remove a participant/member from a group.

  • Go to group info.
  • Select the group member you want to remove.
  • Tap on the ‘Remove’ option.
5.6 How do I exit a chat group?
  • Go to group info.
  • Tap on the exit group option.
5.7 How do I send a text message to a group?
  • Go to the chat screen.
  • Tap on the chat group you want to send a message to
  • Type your message and send.
5.8 How do I send photos through Camera in a Group Chat?
  • Open the chat window where you want to send the photo
  • Tap on the attachment icon
  • Tap on the Camera icon

5.31 What is my message info and how do I check it?

  • Here you can view which members of the group have received your message, viewed it, or are yet to receive your message.
5.32 How do I check my message status?

6.1 Why did Comera log me out of my account?

The app logs a user out of their account only when they set their Comera account up on another device. The action ensures complete security and protection of the user, their account, and data.

6.2 How do I Change My Number?
  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Accounts.
  • Tap on ‘Change Number’.
  • Read the important instructions.
  • Enter your old phone number with country code.
  • Enter your new phone number with country code.
  • Tap on ‘Proceed’.
  • Select the contacts you want to send notification about the number change.
  • Tap on ‘Done’.
6.3 How can I Delete My Account?
  • Go to settings.
  • Select Accounts.
  • Tap on ‘Delete My Account’.
  • Enter your Country and Phone Number.
  • Answer the Pop-up question ‘Why are you deleting?’
  • Tap on ‘Delete My Account.’
6.4 What if Comera deactivates my account?

This could be due to other Comera users reporting your account for violating our terms of service. Comera investigates every report and if a user is found violating our terms, their account gets deactivated. However, you find our decision to be in error, you can write to us at help@mycomera.com

7.1 Are my chats secured?

Yes, Comera has an end-to-end encryption system to secure all your conversations, including chats.

7.2 How can I know more about this App?
  • Go to settings.
  • Select Help.
  • View the Version details, Privacy policy and Terms and Conditions.
7.3 Why I got the message - Awaiting this message, it might take a while? Occasionally, you might see the message – “Awaiting this message, it might take a while” instead of the one your contact has sent.

A message could experience a delay because of the necessity for the sender's phone to be actively connected online, as mandated by the end-to-end encryption protocol. This could be due to:
  • Either you or your contact is not using the most up-to-date version of Comera.
  • Either you or your contact recently reinstalled Comera.
  • The message was sent while you were offline, and by the time you came online, your contact was offline.
  • The message wasn't delivered to you. In this case, ask your contact to resend it.
To expedite this process, try the following steps:
  • Ask the person you're communicating with to open Comera on their phone while they are connected to internet.
  • Ensure both of you are using the latest version of Comera latest version of Comera.
